Large Molten Glass Bowl on Whitewash Wood
The large molten glass bowl on whitewash wood combines a clear bowl of hand-blown recycled glass with a whitewashed stand of natural Balinese Gamal wood. Clear glass, a white finish and natural wood tones define its restrained palette, while the large bowl format gives the piece a substantial decorative scale.
Ancient Wisdom makes this bowl by hand in Bali, and a perfectly uniform finish is not part of its handmade character. Small bubbles or light scratches can occur in the glass, while the size and design may vary slightly from one piece to another, so each bowl will have its own small differences.
As a large bowl from the planter family, it has a natural place among house plants as well as within a wider home décor scheme. Its scale and mixed-material construction suit someone who enjoys making glass, wood and greenery part of a room, whether chosen for their own home or given to a home décor enthusiast for a birthday or house move.
A few useful details
Ensure the bowl is placed on a stable surface to prevent tipping. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures to maintain the integrity of the glass and wood.
A more personal find
On this Ancient Wisdom bowl, the clear glass leaves the whitewashed Gamal wood in view rather than turning the stand into a hidden support. The transparent bowl, pale finish and natural wood tones are all seen together, so the base contributes as much to the look as the glass above it. It suits a setting where the wood should remain part of the display, rather than simply sitting beneath it.
